Beyond the ordinary

As of 3rd July 2025, construction has officially commenced on the redevelopment of our beloved Mangataiore Marae. This marks a significant milestone in our journey of growth, cultural preservation, and community empowerment.

The project is progressing in three carefully planned stages, with completion anticipated by mid-March 2026.

Stage 1 wharenui

Focuses on foundational infrastructure and essential facilities to establish a safe and functional base for future stages. This includes site preparation, utility connections, and structural groundwork.

Builds upon the base with key Marae spaces such as the wharenui and wharekai, reflecting both traditional design and contemporary needs

Stage 2 Wharekai

Will focus on the construction of our kitchen (wharekai), a vital space for hospitality and manaakitanga. Start dates will be confirmed pending the outcome of the next round of grant funding.

Stage 3 - Dinning Room

Will bring our dining room (wharekai) to completion, reinforcing the Marae’s ability to host gatherings with warmth and dignity. This stage also encompasses final enhancements including landscaping, accessibility improvements, and intricate cultural detailing to ensure the Marae is welcoming, inclusive, and a true reflection of our whakapapa.
